Meet Our Founder
Wayne Hutchinson
Founder, FCM After School Care
I’ve always had a passion for children. Connecting with them comes naturally to me, and I want them to know that someone cares about who they are and who they can become.
FCM After School Care was founded in May 2024. It began as a summer camp where children could have fun, learn, and receive encouragement. The camp went so well that parents began asking for more of our services. They could see that their children were being helped, and that meant something to me.
The Knock at My Door
One experience that really touched my heart was when some children in my neighborhood knocked on my door and asked for something to eat and drink. I hadn’t realized there were children going hungry right in my own neighborhood.
That moment stayed with me. Along with what we had seen through the summer camp, it helped me recognize the need for ongoing support. I decided to build on that beginning through FCM After School Care.
What I Hope for Every Child
My hope is that we can inspire children, build their confidence and self-esteem, and help them believe they can be successful in life. I want them to have mentors who listen, encourage them, and help guide them toward positive choices.
There are so many negative distractions in the world today. We want to do our part to help the children in our care grow into confident, caring, productive members of their communities.
It Takes a Village
They say it takes a village to raise a child, and I believe that’s true. As we develop the after-school program, we’re looking for people who share that heart for children.
We welcome volunteers who can help with computer classes, tutoring, and mentorship, along with donations and supplies to help bring this vision to life. Whatever you can contribute, we’d love to talk with you about how you can be part of our village.
